The £15 Starter Pack
Every new parent account can claim the £15 Starter Pack. This gives you 4 full 60-minute tutoring sessions at just £15 each — a significant discount from standard rates. The starter pack applies regardless of which tutor band you choose, so you can try any tutor on the platform. You also get a free 15-minute intro call before committing. Use your 4 sessions within 30 days of signing up. There is no obligation to continue after the starter pack.
How Tutor Bands Work
StudyGuru tutors are grouped into experience bands that reflect their track record on the platform. Band 1 (Rising Star) tutors are newer and start at £24/hour. As tutors complete more sessions, earn positive reviews, and demonstrate strong results, they can progress to higher bands with higher rates. All tutors — regardless of band — have passed the same rigorous 7-step verification process including Enhanced DBS checks and a live teaching assessment.
What Is Included in the Price
Every session includes: a full 60-minute 1-to-1 lesson on our interactive whiteboard with HD video, an AI-generated lesson summary sent to the parent after the session, AI-generated personalised practice tasks for the student, access to your parent dashboard with progress tracking and grade targets, direct messaging with your tutor between sessions, and secure payment processing via Stripe. There is nothing extra to pay.
When Payment Is Taken
Payment is authorised 24 hours before the session and captured 24 hours after it completes. This means you are only charged for lessons that actually take place. If you need to cancel, do so before payment is authorised and you will not be charged. All payments are processed securely via Stripe. We accept all major credit and debit cards.
