I am a first year Physics student at University of Birmingham, with A*AAA grades in A level Physics, Maths, Further Maths and Biology and experience tutoring GCSE students in Physics and Maths. I like to cover all bases when tutoring, ensuring all the key skills are strong enough for students to adapt to unfamiliar questions that usually catch lots of people out. Having been tutored before myself, I know what works for me, what makes studying easier, and also which skills were most useful in exams and the leadup to them.

For the first 2-3 sessions, I focus on honing down how the student is doing and which topics have been covered, as well as identifying some areas of interest and/or areas the student struggles in. After this, sessions will begin with a starter/warmup task that I ask the student to complete, which we can then talk through their solutions to. Following the starter, I like to give the student a choice between some harder questions or a topic they might want to be better explained to them. If time allows, I will then close by asking about anything particular for the next session they want covering. My goal with each session is to clarify and develop core skills leading up to the summer, when I will then begin to give harder and more tricky questions along with resources for the student to use outside of the sessions.
